You’re in a stable relationship with your girlfriend, or so you thought, and out of the blue your girlfriend declares that she needs some space. As a guy being in a relationship, what to do when your girlfriend needs space?

All of the sudden, your girlfriend isn’t quite sure of her feelings with you and your relationship. She wants to have some time off to sort things through. When all this gets down, you might just make your own assumption that everything you have with your girlfriend is coming to an end.

However, this is not necessarily how things would end. Depending on how you deal with this scenario once it has happened would ultimately determine whether or not she’d come back to you when everything has settled down, or whether she’d move on without you.

When it gets down to what to do when your girlfriend needs some space, you should give her all the time and space she’d need, no matter how much you’d hate doing so.

During this period of time, you should not attempt to contact her. This means that you must not call her or even text her at all. Most importantly, do not make any move that would affect or influence her to change her mind. You’ll have to show your girlfriend that you respect her needs. Let her know that you’re not selfishly considering only your needs, but hers as well.

Don’t let your emotions get the best of you. You might be tempted to do everything possible to get her back. You might want to send her some flowers to show her that you care, or even sending her some romantic emails to get her to think of you.

You might try to charm her over; unfortunately she won’t find any of your efforts charming at all. She’d feel that you simply do not understand her at all, even as far as thinking that you do not love her.

You should be looking towards yourself for now. Something has to be wrong in your relationship, otherwise she wouldn’t need any space in the first place. You should try to figure out what went wrong, and what caused her to call for some time out, if she hasn’t told you about the problem yet.

Now that she’s not with you, use the time that you have to improve yourself. Work on improving your qualities and characteristics which she loves while getting rid of those she dislikes. Prove to her that you’re willing to make those changes for her sake.
